Brückner Servtec’s software MMS (Manufacturing Management System) has received the "BIRT Excellence Award" at this year’s Actuate Customer Day in Frankfurt, Germany, within the award category "Manufacturing". BIRT is an open-source-software project for the development of reporting and business-intelligence applications. Participants of the project are, among others, IBM and Actuate Corporation. The jury appreciated the innovative application, developed by Brückner Servtec, which provides decision makers with selected Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of production plants. These KPIs are available on mobile devices such as iPhone and iPad. The award is yearly presented to companies with outstanding solutions in business reporting and performance management.
Within his presentation "KPIs on smartphones – trend or necessity?", and followed by a live demo session, Wolfgang Zintz, MMS Key Account Manager at Brückner Servtec, focused on the advantages and benefits of the solution in a real customer situation. Zintz concluded that due to the fast worldwide development of mobile applications, production data on smart phones or tablets-pcs will neither be a trend nor a necessity, but simply a matter of course. The global film industry faces new challenges in the trade-off between price transparency, small lot sizes, short delivery times and increasing output of modern stretching lines. Nowadays, the permanent availability of reliable data becomes a must in efficient decision making. About Actuate Actuate founded and co-leads the Eclipse BIRT (Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools) open source project. BIRT is the premier development environment to present data visualizations in compelling ways via the web on any device. Actuate products add interactivity, dashboards, analytics, and deployment options for web and mobile applications.
